Edinburgh Distillery – Multi-Storey Underfloor Heating Installation

RBT Underfloor was appointed to design, supply and install the underfloor heating system for the new Edinburgh Distillery, delivering a complete heating solution across 1,300m² of floor space spanning 10 floors.

The project required careful planning and coordination due to the multi-storey nature of the building, with materials, installation teams and commissioning activities scheduled to align with the overall construction programme. Our technical team produced bespoke heating layouts for each floor, ensuring optimum performance while accommodating the varying room layouts and service requirements throughout the development.

The installation comprised 11 Robot Compact Pro manifolds, supplying heating circuits installed at 200mm centres to achieve efficient and even heat distribution across all levels of the building.

RBT delivered a complete installation package including insulation, damp-proof membrane, perimeter edge strip, PE-RT underfloor heating pipework, manifold installation and comprehensive pressure testing. The system was completed with Danfoss tamperproof 24V controls throughout, providing reliable, secure temperature management ideally suited to a commercial environment.

By combining detailed design, efficient project management and high-quality installation, RBT successfully delivered a robust and energy-efficient underfloor heating system for one of Scotland’s landmark distillery developments, ensuring long-term performance across every floor of the building.
